2012 Science or Superstition2012 Science or Superstition – The book as written by Alexandra Bruce

I do try to keep up with the latest studies of the related 2012 information including new books and films. One advantage of running a site like this one is that most folks are happy to send me review copies ahead of release dates. So it was with some childlike glee that I unwrapped my own copy of the latest offering from the good people at Disinfo.com.

Unlike other 2012 books this one really is a manual of 2012 with many straightforward answers to common 2012 questions. The various subjects are tackled in a sensible order of importance and generally invoke the most relevant authorities on the specific area investigated in each section. Alexandra Bruce does an excellent job of objective journalism as she wades through the mass of different angles to the overall puzzle.

[Before starting proper I just wanted folks to remember that today is not only 10-Lamat but also exactly 1111 days now remain to the 11:11UT winters solstice of 21-12-2012. Hopefully this day brings magic and wonderful new beginnings into your life. 10-Lamat is a day sign for new projects to be undertaken and for manifesting thought into reality.]

One thing that stands out is the way in which ideas are communicated to the reader in a laid back manner without the amateur dramatics or overly scholarly tones found in numerous 2012 web sites and 2012 Youtube videos. Perhaps this is simply my personal preference but I think it will appeal to a large swath of interest lay researcher members of the public. Hopefully some of the citizens that take it upon themselves to watch the Hollywood movie on the theme will end up encountering this piece of 2012 insight and be able to access the deeper story.

One thing that is made clear fairly early on is that the Maya Calendars may play a role in the 2012 phenomenon, but that it is no longer the backbone of the 2012 movement occurring today. Many of the researchers have little connection to the Maya cultural data and will happily admit that it is secondary to them after their preferred line of 2012 research.

In the book we see how some of the key players take more of their lead from current happening which to them are signs and portents of an event just around the corner, 2012 is simply a best fit year for the changes they expect. We are also reminded that for some 2012 has come into their perception via mystical means or through synchronicity even perhaps through supernatural happenings.

Alexander Bruce walks us through such necessary understandings as the history of world age doctrines which echo the idea of Maya predicted changes in planetary culture through cyclic events. The reader is taken through subjects such as the possibility of a binary twin to Sol bringing about precession. Several possible galactic happenings are investigated, such as cosmic super-waves, sun storms and rogue bodies. No stone is left unturned as we see pole shifts, crop circles, chaos models and numerous cultures ancient prophecy explored.

Though relatively easy to read I am not sure if I found it easy to follow largely due to my background knowledge of the subject. It may take a few sittings for those new to the subject to fully engage with the enormity and variety of subjects. That said I think that perhaps with a second re-reading anyone will be able to grasp the concepts incorporated and become an instant expert on 2012.

As with the 2012 Science or Superstition film production the book involved a great number of well-known alternative thinkers and pop culture revolutionaries. Just about anyone well known for tackling the 2012 subject has been involved with the production of the book in some manner or another. This is definitely not some one sided easy to pigeonhole manuscript. I enjoyed the balance and rational scrutinising of some of the more bizarre areas of the 2012 discussion. If you feel that you need to fill up your brain with a subject overview, but feel ready for something more than an idiots guide, this is definitely for you.

The book is available from www.2012sos.net and of course from all good book stores. If you like my way of looking at 2012, but would prefer to see it presented by someone with a greater talent for writing, then this will definitely be one for your esoteric library.
